I am sure you have heard about the benefits of hula hooping: improved core strength, eases back pain, tones the stomach, works thighs and bottom, and so on.
Maybe you have wondered if you could learn? But what is going to happen when you go to a Powerhoop class? A whole hour of hooping? Surely not? Let me explain...
A Powerhoop class is 45 minutes in length. Before your first class you will be invited to arrive 10 minutes early for an introduction to hooping. I will show you all the little tips and tricks you will need to keep your hoop up.
10 minutes is all it usually takes to get you started. In that short space of time I'll show you: - How to place your feet - How to get a good push off - The best direction to move your hips - What to do with the rest of your body - head, shoulders to help keep the hoop. - I'll be able to correct any little flaws that might be the reason why your hoop isn't staying up. - It's all easy when you know how!!
After your introduction, you can join the class for the main session. We start with a warm-up, then we alternate between waist hula hooping to music and routines in which we use the hoop as a weight to work other parts of the body, with movements such as squats and shoulder presses. It really is a full body workout. We also do some cardio training and some mat work to really work on toning the bums and tums. You can see that there is a lot more to a Powerhoop class than just hooping!
You will drop your hoop! Maybe a hundred times. That is just part of learning. After several sessions, once you got to grips with waist hooping, you can be taught how to move your arms, and then your feet, and walk and turn. You'll drop it a lot then too. LOADS. It's all part of the fun. I still drop my hoop after 5 years of teaching!
If you’re looking for a fun way to workout and would like to give Powerhoop a try I would love to hear from you. Heather
